                   The Haven, Hardwicke

 

In a very special part of the Golden Valley in Herefordshire, close to the border with Wales ,you will find The Haven, Hardwicke.  This beautiful stone built country house was once the local vicarage and home to the renowned amateur astronomer the Rev Thomas Webb.

Based in wonderful countryside with breath taking  scenery, 2½ miles out of Hay-OnWye, you will be in easy reach of the stunning  Black Mountains ,inspiration for Bruce Chatwin’s ‘On the Blackhill’, the  Brecon Beacons National Park, Offa’s Dyke footpath and Hay Bluff. The area is ideally suited for outdoor pursuits. Walking in the beautiful countryside and mountains is hard to resist but you will also find locally, fishing, canoeing, cycling, horse riding and golf. There are many annual attractions including the Guardian’s famous Hay Festival of Literature  held each year in the ‘Town Of Books’ Hay-On-Wye, the Royal Welsh Show  and Winter Fair held at Builth Wells,  Hay-On Wye and Abergavenny Food Festival’s and Brecon Jazz Festival to name but a few .

Adjacent to the main house and once used for stabling can be found the newly refurbished Coach House apartments, The Field House and Hayloft. Both of these apartments which are both electrically heated offer good quality well presented self-catering accommodation. Both apartments are non smoking areas. A cot and highchair is available on request. There is ample parking available and pleasant gardens to see and patios for sitting on. A small complimentary welcome hamper of bacon, eggs, bread, milk, tea, coffee and sugar will await those of you that book a full week’s holiday with us on your arrival!
